29/09/2026.- Sources for Nature brings together participants working to put biodiversity guidance into practice at different natural mineral water source locations across Europe, with the support of NMWE and IUCN.
The project has now moved into its Step 2, following the completion of the first phase of work.
From assessment to action
During Phase 1, participants assessed their river basins, analysed biodiversity impacts and dependencies, and identified and prioritised areas for action. This provided the basis for recommendations tailored to each location.
At the end of this Step 1, participants came together online to share updates on the actions underway across their different locations and exchange practical experiences.
Developing a vision for water and nature
In Phase 2, participants will build on these recommendations to develop a vision and set targets for their work on water and nature.
While each participant approaches the work according to their own context and priorities, one key learning is already emerging: local collaboration is key. This includes drawing on the expertise of stakeholders and experts who understand the specificities of each ecosystem.
The work will continue with participants sharing experiences and learning from the work taking place across different locations.
