Sources for Nature is a two-year initiative led by Natural Mineral Waters Europe (NMWE) in cooperation with International Union for Conservation and Nature (IUCN). It brings together volunteering companies and associations to apply, in real-world conditions, the biodiversity recommendations developed jointly in 2023–2025.
The objective is simple but ambitious: to test how a structured framework for biodiversity action works in practice across different sites, contexts and levels of experience. In the process, participants will launch or improve their action on biodiversity, providing valuable inspiration for the whole sector.
The project follows a four-step approach: establishing a baseline, setting goals, selecting indicators, and implementing and monitoring action.
Over the course of two years, participating sites will apply the recommendations step by step. Their experience will be analysed to strengthen the framework and support more robust biodiversity strategies across the sector.
The project will culminate in a final conference in 2028, where lessons learned will be shared with a broader audience.
Sources for Nature is about practical implementation, structured learning and continuous improvement. By piloting the IUCN 2025 recommendations under real conditions, the sector aims to enhance its positive impact on biodiversity protection at source.
